Swim Bay Overview
Swim Bay is a top spot for families in Peachland, offering everything you need for a perfect beach day. Located on Beach Avenue, right in front of the community centre, this beach has a range of facilities to ensure everyone has a great time. There are washrooms, a pebble beach, and accessible beach access, making it convenient for all visitors.
What sets Swim Bay apart is its range of fun activities. From a wharf and diving board to a zipline and rope swing, there's no shortage of excitement. And with lifeguards on duty from the end of June to the end of August, safety is a top priority. Parents should note that children under 7 must be supervised, and life jackets are available upon request.
Lifeguard Schedule and Facilities
During the summer months, Swim Bay features 140 metres of lifeguarded waterfront. The supervised area stretches from the yacht club to the rope swing. Lifeguards are on duty for 10 weeks each summer, providing peace of mind for parents and swimmers alike.
For those with accessibility needs, Swim Bay has an aquatic wheelchair ramp at the north end of the beach. An aquatic wheelchair is available from the lifeguards, who are ready to assist with entering or exiting the water. This ensures that everyone can enjoy the water safely and comfortably.
Swimming Lessons
Swim Bay offers swimming lessons that are perfect for helping children develop a love for swimming and a healthy lifestyle. The classes, held in the stunning Okanagan Lake, focus on water safety and swimming skills. With small class sizes, each child gets the attention they need to succeed.
Beginners will start with water safety and basic comfort in the water, progressing to stroke development as they advance. More experienced swimmers will work on competitive and survival strokes, building their distance and speed. Each level has specific performance criteria, and children move to the next level once they meet these standards.
Concession and Picnic Area
From June to September, visitors can enjoy a concession stand offering snacks and refreshments, making it easy to spend the whole day at the beach without needing to pack a lunch. The picnic area is perfect for family meals, with plenty of space to spread out and relax.
