International Bat Week at Peachland Visitor Centre
Event Details
Location
Join us at the Peachland Visitor Centre from October 24-31 for International Bat Week, an event hosted by the Bat Education and Ecological Protection Society (BEEPS). This celebration showcases the critical role bats play in our environment and economy, from controlling insect populations to pollinating plants and spreading seeds. Discover the new bat-friendly gardens, lighting, and green roofs exhibit, and learn how you can make your space more bat-friendly. Highlights include partnerships with local wineries like Saxon Estate Winery, Hainle Vineyards Estate Winery, and Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards, which use bat boxes and guano for natural fertilization. Don’t miss the chance to buy Bat Friendly Apples from Sun-Oka Fruit Farms, thanks to 900 bats reducing the need for pesticides. Plus, enjoy special Halloween treats on the 31st! Visit daily from 10 am to 4 pm at the Peachland Historic Schoolhouse and see how bats contribute to food security, the environment, and more.
